Open Space Technology creates space for new ideas and self-determined work. The meGem team uses the method for large group moderation and for structuring conferences.
An Open Space enables the participants to become actors. In a preparatory meeting a title is found, the individual topics are proposed by the participants and worked on in small groups.
In this way, the competencies, concerns and perspectives of all participants can be used to work on complex topics and to achieve results. The end result is a plan of action, often with a variety of concrete measures.
The cost of an Open Space facilitation depends on the size and length of the event.
One example of our work using the Open Space Technology is three conferences aimed at engaging people, civil society organizations and networks in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea in building their health systems after the Ebola epidemic.
